Maintenance was a "success" and they've removed the artificial player cap from realms. Now any queue you see is just from playing on a high population realm. Guess there's a price to pay to be surrounded by people
Same here...tried logging in and was 3500 something with a wait time initially of 132 minutes...in just a few minutes it jumped to 381 minutes...and yes, very POOR planning on Blizz's end...what the heck did they THINK was going to happen?
From what Daryn and I could gather, it looks like the time estimate updates to reflect the past 10-30 second window (regarding # of people getting in) instead of using some aggregate that would provided a much better estimate. TLDR: Don't trust it
Poor planning on Blizz's part. Not being able to access content I purchased months ago is not acceptable. I guess I won't be getting on any time soon. Only 4700 people in front of me. Guess I will see everyone in 7.0
Even if the server is set to 'hang up' and not reply to suspicious requests, it still has to spend time determining if each request is valid or not. So enough requests tie up any server regardless of its resources.
Support Forum: "We will be performing scheduled maintenance beginning on Friday, November 14, at 05:00 AM PST and we expect the service to be available again at approximately 09:00 AM PST. During this time the game will be unavailable for play. "
